Shopping Savings - Chop Your Own Christmas Tree at National Forests

Did you know that you can Chop Your Own Christmas Tree at a U. S. National Forest?

For a small fee, U. S. National Forests will issue a permit that allows a Christmas tree to be cut and removed. Although the charge for the permit varies from state to state, usually the cost is from $5 to $10, clearly, a much more economical cost than the average pre-cut Christmas tree price of $93.  And cutting down a certain number of trees each year supports a healthy forest. Some of the many benefits from Christmas tree harvesting include older trees gaining more accessible access to water, nutrients, and sunlight and the forest floor getting more sunlight which helps promote greater plant and wildlife diversity. Harvesting younger trees also reduces the risk of wildfires by reducing the fuel for the fire.

However, using a chainsaw on any national forest land is prohibited! So, you’ll need an axe.

Since 1854, Warwood Tool Company has been crafting high-quality, hand-forged sledges, mauls, axes, adzes, hammers, picks, chisels, bars, and punches for hard-working Americans.  Today Warwood Tool wants to help Americans create Christmas memories with a National Forest, a tree, tips on how to cut your tree and Warwood Tool’s new Perfect Axe.  Enjoy a day in a National Forest’s great outdoors, hunt for that perfect Christmas tree, and then, bring it home using Warwood Tool’s Perfect Axe, a top-quality tool that will be handed down through family generations. That special tree will glow brightly at home with not only the family’s cherished ornaments and lights, but also with the treasured memory of the festive family day.

To help in this endeavor, Warwood Tool has the perfect answer – The Perfect Axe! A new version of a classic axe, the Perfect Axe is hand-forged to a size that has been known as a boy’s axe because of its ties to the Boy Scouts and its effectiveness even at a compact size.  “This axe has taken well over a year and a half to design and bring to production,” said Chris Azur, President, Warwood Tool. “We wanted to be sure to design something that is worthy of the mantle, ‘Perfect’.  And this year, we have even more reason to feel excited about the Christmas season. Warwood Tool is proud to be the 2023 partner of the US Capitol Christmas Tree, which is being harvested right here in West Virginia’s Monongahela National Forest.”
