Healthy Habits - Covid and the Updated Vaccine

The COVID virus can strike anyone, at any time, and it remains a serious threat to older Americans, especially those living with serious medical conditions.

New strains of COVID-19 virus are spreading, the summer surge is underway and before long, the 2024-2025 vaccines will arrive at pharmacies ahead of the upcoming fall and winter seasons.1 The vaccine is especially important for the 65+ population because older adults continue to make up the majority of COVID-related hospitalizations.

There continue to be many questions and misinformation surrounding COVID-19, including who should receive the updated COVID-19 vaccine.

It’s important to note that there are a few different options for the COVID-19 vaccine – people who received one type of COVID-19 vaccine previously can receive another type of vaccine.

On Thursday, September 26th, John Beckner, Senior Director, Strategic Initiatives at National Community Pharmacists Association and Silvia Taylor, Executive Vice President and Chief Corporate Affairs and Advocacy Officer, Novavax, will set the record straight and answer the top questions consumers have around COVID-19 and vaccines as we head into the fall and winter season.

The guests will also discuss a survey that explores how pharmacists and consumers perceive the ability of the U.S. healthcare system to manage and respond to infectious diseases that threaten public health. The survey also measures perceived barriers, concerns and solutions surrounding public health issues related to infectious diseases.
