Parents should be aware if they see certain text abbreviations on their child’s devices.
A new study by online language learning app Preply found that 4 of the top 20 most confusing text abbreviations have to do with concealing information from parents.
Study highlights:
Text abbreviations Americans understand the least that have to do with parenting: KPC (keeping parents clueless), PITR (prent in the room), POMS (parent over my shoulder), and PAW (parents are watching).
0% of Baby Boomers feel confident in understanding internet slang.
Millennials were the generation who understood text acronyms the most – beating out Gen Z by 1.5%.
Men are more likely than women to say they feel "very confident" in understanding Internet slang or abbreviations.
