A new report from Harmony Healthcare IT is offering a detailed look at how Americans are engaging with telehealth in 2025 — including who’s embracing it, who’s not, and why.
The report found more than 3 in 4 (77%) of Americans believe telehealth is the future of healthcare.
- 53% prefer telehealth to in-person doctor visits
- Top telehealth uses: therapy/mental health, one-off ailment, and sexual health
- Nearly 1 in 5 (17%) turn to telehealth for prescriptions their doctor won’t approve
The most common reasons for choosing telehealth? Convenience, faster service/easier scheduling, and privacy.
Interestingly, 12% say they use telehealth to avoid small talk — and nearly a quarter (24%) admit to feeling embarrassed when discussing personal issues with a doctor.
For those not embracing telehealth, 30% say they aren’t aware of what’s available and 29% think it's lower quality of care than in-person visits.
