Book Nook - Animal Theologians

 I recently had a chance to review Animal Theologians. Admittedly, this book has a narrow target audience, but fortunately, my daughter and I fit the bill. We are interested in learning about a variety of religious viewpoints, and we like animals and nature.

The work looks at how faith leaders from a variety of faiths - Jewish, Christian, Muslim, Hindu, and more - view animals. Some of the authors are as well-known as Gandhi. Others are a little more obscure, especially if you don't study theology. All of the essays are interesting, though.

It's actually surprising how little people think about animals and nature through a theological lens. After all, in the Christian faith tradition, animals and plans were created before people. Most faith traditions mention stewardship of nature in some form - and to have all of those viewpoints in one single book was very intriguing to read.
