Only 3% of Gen Z plans to follow a strict or traditional parenting style, marking a major generational shift, according to a recent study by Chicco.
The brand surveyed 1,500+ child-free Gen Zers to understand how they plan to raise future children compared to how they were raised. The results reveal a parenting style that’s more emotionally aware, tech-cautious, and far from traditional:
- 70% want to offer more emotional support than their parents did
- 64% think parenting today is harder than it used to be
- 43% plan to limit their kids' exposure to tech/social media for balance, with a screen time maximum of roughly 2.5 hours per day
- 1 in 5 say they'll never post their child on social media
