Thrifty Thinking - Most Frugal Cities in America

Saving money isn’t just about cutting back, it’s about using smart tactics. 83% of Americans consider themselves frugal, and they've got a multitude of hacks to keep costs low.

Best Money's new study surveyed 2,400 Americans about their frugal habits and revealed the most popular ways people save:

  • 95% buy store brands or generics.

  • 88% use coupons, promo codes, or price matching.

  • 83% use cash-back, receipt apps, or rewards programs.

  • 71% paused or canceled subscriptions.

  • Frugality is highest when shopping for clothing, groceries, entertainment, and subscriptions.

Seattle, Denver, and Phoenix are leading the nation in putting these tactics into practice.
