A new Lemon Law Experts survey suggests that Gen Z is increasingly critical of car behaviors that are perceived as loud, aggressive, or distracting, a trend that may resonate with parents concerned about safety.
The survey focused on how Americans ages 18–30 perceive different cars and driving habits.
Key findings from the Lemon Law Experts analysis:
- Loud exhaust is Gen Z’s top car-related turnoff
- Street racing modifications and excessive accessories are widely viewed negatively
- Respondents tend to favor cars they associate with reliability and restraint
- Many Gen Z respondents say certain car features make them uncomfortable riding in a vehicle
As teens and young adults gain independence behind the wheel, understanding what their peers value can reinforce safety conversations. The findings suggest that “showy” car behaviors are increasingly seen as red flags, not status symbols.
