A while back I posted about some eco-friendly tips if you wash your own car. The Western Car Wash Association would like to share a few additional tips.
- If you wash at home, park on the grass or gravel so the dirty water doesn't go directly to watersheds.
- Keep the flow on your hose as low as possible using an adjustable nozzle (and turn water off when not actually rinsing).
- Use plain water if your car isn't very dirty.
- Be sure to use re-usable towels and sponges.
- Empty soapy water into your sink or shower drain (so the water goes into the sewer system instead of watersheds).
