Healthy Habits: Tuna
Tuna is a great food. It's high in omega-3s and low in saturated fats. But like any fish, it does carry some contaminants. In general, tuna fish is among the low end of the spectrum, but the type makes a difference. Canned white tuna (albacore) has more mercury than canned light tuna (skipjack). If you're really concerned about the amount of mercury, be sure to opt for light. And make sure to buy from a brand committed to sustainability. Most major brands sold in the US support sustainability initiatives, so it's not too hard to find.
