Consumer Critique: Comfort Zone with D.A.P. for dogs

Comfort Zone with D.A.P. is an easy-to-use product designed to help manage stress-related behavior in dogs. The company also manufactures Comfort Zone with Feliway for cats.

First of all, the most important thing to note is that every dog and every situation is different. So what works wonders for one dog may not work at all for another. For example, this product. My family has two dogs, one that is very territorial and yips a lot, and one that gets really really worked up during thunderstorms, and also at night. Comfort Zone provided mixed results, so far. It did nothing for the retriever yet, but the terrier's behavior has greatly improved in the few weeks that we've been trying this. Now, in the summer, it's possible that there'd be a more noticeable difference, since there are more thunderstorms, but her other anxiety-related behavior - not sleeping well in her own room if guests are over - is still very much an issue. So, for you, this product could be the miracle you've been waiting for you, or it could be just another tool to try that may or may not work. The product is designed to work most effectively with other behavior modification techniques and is clinically proven to reduce stress-related behaviors, including barking and whining.

Comfort Zone works by mimicking the pheromones given off by a nursing mother dog. The diffusers last for 30 days, providing a 24-hour exposure to this pheromone (designed to provide coverage for 500-650 square feet). If your dog is particularly anxious during traveling, there are also sprays available that can be used anywhere.
