Have you heard of Wittlebee? This cutely-named service delivers a monthly box of kids' clothing essentials specially selected by mom stylists. This saves parents time and money, and eliminates mall meltdowns.
Wittlebee is going beyond making the lives of parents better and easier, to helping families in need through their new “1 for Onesie” campaign. Every time you order a onesie for your Wittlebee box, Wittlebee will donate a onesie to BabyBuggy, Jessica Seinfeld’s nonprofit that’s been serving underprivileged families for over ten years.
I was able to interview Wittlebee's founder, Sean Percival.
1) Why the "1 for Onesie" campaign?
Times are tough and many families can't afford even the basic kids clothing items (like onesies). So In addition to saving our customers time and money we wanted to do more. With 1 for onesie we hope to help thousands of families each year by providing these onesies. Our customers also wanted to help so with this program they are with every single purchase.
2) What was the inspiration behind Wittlebee?
As an entrepreneur I'm always looking for new businesses ideas that make life better. As a new dad I'm now looking for ways to make my wife's life better and easier. After speaking with her and other moms it was clear that's kids clothes were a big challenge. They're over priced, you never have enough of them and the retail experience is not great. Wittlebee was the result, a new service that aims to save moms time, money and reduce those mall meltdown moments.
3) How does Wittlebee save moms money?
Kids clothes are notoriously expensive. In the past parents were limited to what they could find at the major big box store. Those companies have large overhead expenses and big markups on anything they sell. We're a small and lean company so we don't pass along those costs to the consumers. The end result is our members get high quality clothes for about $5 per item.
4) How are the clothing essentials chosen?
Our members fill out a small style profile to get started. Next our mom stylists call each new customer to confirm their order. We use this information to create a custom box that factors in the style and color preferences of the member.
