Smart Safety: Food Handling Tips

It's always good to review food handling tips to keep your family healthy. Most of us know we should properly wash our hands before cooking and after handling any raw meat. But some tips are surprising. So here's a refresher.

- Don't rinse poultry. You can spread bacteria around your sink and countertops.
- Have a separate cutting board for raw meat.
- You can serve marinade that was used for preparing meat as a sauce, but be sure to boil for at least a minute first.
- Don't wash produce until you're ready to eat. Wet produce is more likely to mold more quickly.
