I recently had the chance to review This is How We Pray - Discovering a Life of Intimate Friendship with God.
Praying is interesting. It's not something I consider myself "good" at, because I wasn't really brought up doing freestyle prayers often. But it's also not something it's really possible to be "bad" at, because praying is just an extension of what's on your heart.
I liked the perspective of this book - that prayer is about having an intimate friendship with God. That concept can seem foreign to some people, especially if they look at God as an authoritarian figure, but a close relationship with God can bring so much more than fear and respect.
This book uses Scriptural examples of and guidelines for prayer, including many of David's Psalms, to help explain the function of prayer and how to make our prayers more effective in terms of strengthening our relationship with God. It's a great book for anyone looking to strengthen their prayer life.
