Book Nook: Descent

Have you ever wondered what happened between Jesus' ascension and Pentecost? I recently had a chance to review Descent, a book that follows a Roman and his (former) prisoner as they become fugitives and end up with a group of Jesus' followers.

The book manages to pack a lot into its short pages. As a work of fiction, obviously a lot of the details are made up, but there is enough historical context to make it believable. It shows two drastically different responses to the followers, and also highlights the fact that even then, the church wasn't in complete unity.

I really enjoyed the book. I liked that it was easy to read, that it was believable, and that it was thought-provoking. I found it so interesting, that I actually am in the process of checking out a bunch of the author's other works!

D. S. Lliteras is the author of fourteen books—including Syllables of Rain, Viet Man, and Flames & Smoke Visible—that have received national and international acclaim.
