Book Nook: Captain LaPlank - The Perfect Pirate

Pirates are fun - full of adventure, intrigue, fierceness - and a great theme to encourage reluctant readers or engage little learners. A book I recently got to review, Captain LaPlank: The Perfect Pirate, works in a message of leadership and living with mistakes through a humorous tale. Captain LaPlank throws his shipmen off the boat as they make mistakes - but eventually is the only one left! It's a gentle reminder that it's ok not to be perfect, and to accept each other's efforts even when they fall short. It also encourages kids that they don't have to bee completely in control.

An emerging children’s author inspired by Dr. Seuss, Flibber T. Gibbet wrote the whimsical cautionary tale of Captain LaPlank: The Perfect Pirate to inspire perfectionist parents to focus on embracing children doing the best they can, and perhaps they can learn a little something along the way too.
Artwork and illustrations by Rob Foote.
Captain LaPlank: The Perfect Pirate (September 2018) is available on Amazon. More information, including a video version of the story and a downloadable coloring book, can be found at misterflibber.com and on YouTube (also linked below).
