I recently had a chance to review a unique book - Create Your Me Movement: An Empowering Guided Journal for Girls. I loved the way that it encourages girls not just to have a goal, but to try to inspire a movement. Even if an individual doesn't find themselves in a position to make a massive inspiring movement, many people who have changed the world have started in small ways - and by starting a local movement a girl can still have a significant impact on their own communities.
The book is designed to be used over the course of a year, with 52 weeks of guided exercises to set goals and ways to reach them. Author and teen advocate Patricia Wooster uses the ideas of play, spirit, strength, and purpose, to help girls find their sense of identity and confidence. By exploring advocacy, patience, relationships, and time/resource management, teens will be equipped to identify a change that needs to be made and working towards real, positive impacts.
Patricia Wooster is a motivational speaker and teen advocate with bachelor's degrees in creative writing and psychology from the University of Kansas. Patricia is currently working with For The Girls International to develop curriculum across all of their SHINE programs for grades 6-12. Her previous book, Ignite Your Spark: Discovering Who You Are From The Inside Out, has garnered praise from parents, teachers, and parenting experts alike. Patricia lives in Tampa, Florida.
