Movie Minute: Pooling to Paradise

The new award winning film, Pooling to Paradise, from writer/producer Caytha Jentis (Bad Parents, The Other F Word) features four millennial strangers, one an LA based Mommy Blogger living with her husband and three kids, is filled with Mommy Angst and is off to a blogger conference in Vegas to jumpstart her life after kids career. This road trip comedy finds all four new acquaintances at a cross-worlds in their lives, on this ride to Paradise, making connections that change their views on life.

I had a chance to learn more in this interview.

How did you get the idea for this movie?
The movie is inspired by a dinner my friends and I had with a ride-share driver. He told us a story about how his friend found love in Paradise. I also saw that a lot of my thirty-something friends were grappling with adulting. I bridged these two and thought that a rideshare road movie with four strangers was fertile ground for a movie - Breakfast Club in a car.

What do you hope viewers take away from watching the film?
The importance of human connection and vulnerability.

What was your favorite part about working on the film?

We were denied most live festival screenings due to the pandemic, so when our film recently screened at the Fort Myers Film Festival after vaccines, and we had a standing ovation, it felt so satisfying. Then Phil Vasser, who had a film in the festival, performed his hit song "Just Another Day in Paradise" which was so incredibly special.
